AMCOL Specialty Minerals, in conjunction with our sister company CETCO, has developed a range of organophillic clay media for use in the remediation of contaminated water and soil stabilization techniques.
All OrganoLoc products are effective in removing oils, greases, coal-tars and other high-molecular-weight, low-solubility organics.
The unique qualities of OrganoLoc enable the removal of organic and inorganic contaminants.
OrganoLoc PM-100 and PM-199 granular media adsorbs the contaminant whilst allowing cleansed water to flow out into the environment. These products have been specifically designed for use in flow-through systems such as Permeable Reactive Barriers in groundwater remediation and contained filtration systems.
OrganoLoc PM-100 is capable of adsorbing up to 60% of its weight in oil and organics and is considerably more effective than Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) in removal of these wastes. GAC adsorbs through its surface pore structure which is susceptible to fouling and blockage.
OrganoLoc products adsorb organics through a series of clay platelets, making it less susceptible to blinding, thereby increasing efficiency. These products can also be used as a pre-treatment in systems using GAC, and OrganoLoc PM-100 has been proven to extend the life of GAC by up to 50%, providing considerable cost benefits to any system or project using these media.
OrganoLoc PM-199 is a proprietary granular filtration media that reliably adsorbs oils, greases and similar organics including BTEX (Benzene, Toluene, Ethyl-Benzene and Xylene), PAH (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons) and other COCs. It comprises 100% reactive media and can adsorb up to 100% its own weight in organic matter. Case studies relating to the performance and efficiency of these products and our associated services are available. Please contact us for more information.
